I am an everyday walker. I go through 2 pairs of Kayano shoes per year. I wear these poor things out. In the last year and a half, I have increased my walking due to getting an active dog. I had been ordering the same size 8 for my Kayanos as my everyday shoes. We have a lot of inclines & declines where I walk, and as I was going up and down hills in my Kayano 22's, I noticed my toes were going right to the end of the shoes. I decided before I purchased my next pair, that I would get professionally measured and not just order the same size I had been. Sure enough, I was told to size up 1/2 size to an 8.5. They told me that during exercise, your feet swell and need room to expand. Also, when you walk on a decline, your toes should not touch the front of the shoe like mine were. You also don't want your heel sliding up and down. I also read that as you age, your feet can change which could cause you to need a larger size. If it's been awhile since you have been sized for athletic shoes, you may want to do it. Prior to ordering, I read many of the complaints about this shoe model, and couldn't help but think a lot of these people should get their feet measured properly prior to purchasing their new shoes. Different brands and model year to model year within a brand can vary in how they fit. I feel this shoe has been unfairly characterized. I love these so much that I ordered 4 pairs, so that I will be all set for a few years this time around. They feel so good and you cannot beat amazons price. These shoes offer a ton of support for my overpronsting feet. These truly are the best ones I have ever had and I have been buying them since the Kayano 13 model. One thing to take note of: the lining in the shoes I purchased is smooth and without holes. Some models of the 23 have holes and some are smooth (take a look at the zoomed in pics). The ones I chose to buy are all smooth. My heel stays put and I feel the material is very nice. I did order one pair with the holes in the material and didn't like the overal feel of them quite as much. Those went back and I went entirely with the smooth material lining offerings. It may just be my personal preference or the lining may actually affect how other people's feet feel in the 23's. The ones I purchased are the black with flowers, white with flowers, light gray with mint green and the diva blue. All of them are very attractive and stylish. The colors in these models aren't too bright as in years past and they have some pizazz unlike the new 24's I looked at. The flower ones make me smile everytime I look at them.
