Laces are the right length, not too long, they are very comfortable esp for someone like me who doesn't walk too much, the purpose was to increase my walking and these help me to do that. Happy with the purchase even recommending to my granson as a presentI have a slim, low volume foot with a narrow ankle and I really struggle to find shoes that fit and don't slip off the back of my heel. These trainers worked really well, although I think, if I'd have kept them I'd have to added a very slim insole. I ordered the size 6 which were just a bit too big and the 5.5 was just a little too small. Very disappointed because they looked great and I really liked the grey colour. The return and refund by Amazon was smooth and simple.I have had Salomons for the past 6 years and love them. Unfortunately, the price should have deterred me from getting these ones. The heel rubbed straight away so plasters were a frequent thing, and in fact the heels on the shoe had worn down within a month or two. I probably wore them 3-4 times a week, for general walking, not hiking/running etc for a couple of months. Now, six months on (and I pulled them out again to retry having not worn them for at least 2 months) I got aches and pains on either side of my foot so they are going in the bin. Their is no way i could run in these. I have ordered another pair of Salomons which cost more and had great reviews, hopefully they will renew my faith back in the brand.I am normally a 6.5 women's. These were too big! The support for running is poor. The soul of the trainer is robust and made for rougher terrain. But the rest of the trainer is not strong enough to support your feet. It's disappointing as Salomon are good. Poor design unfortunately.Fit really well, I kept my normal size.They took a few miles to break in but now are very comfortable on 5-10 mile treks in all weathers and terrains.Not waterproof but shower resistant, if they have gotten wet through they have not held water.The grip is very good even on slippery surfaces.
